Experience & Requirements:
Age 16 and over
Experienced working with clay & can work independently. Or have taken a multi-week class with us.
Studio orientation meeting for 30 min is required before you are allowed to use the facilities.

- 26 Pottery wheels
- stations for throwing and handbuilding
- 2 class rooms
- Dedicated member wheels
- Over 144 glaze combinations for use
- Nidac Slab roller
- Extruder
- 3 Kilns fired to hot cone 5
What’s included:
- Unlimited scheduled access to studio during open studio hours
- Use of studio tools, glazes and underglaze
- Bisque firing and glaze firing up to 75 lbs of clay a month.

Member Studio Hours:
As a member you can schedule and use the studio as many times as you want during open member studio hours, even during class times.
Scheduling is done through member portal.
Mon: 1:00pm - 9:00pm
Tues - Sun: 10:00am - 9:00pm
Exception for major holidays and prescheduled studio clean up days.
Considerations:
No outside clay allowed. Clay available for purchase from the studio.
We carry clay from Tacoma Clay Arts. They vary from white body stoneware and porcelain to brown to speckled and will be rotating clays based on member requests as well.
You are welcomed to bring your own tools, mid-fire glazes, slips and resists.

We will contact you when a spot is available. You will have 7 days to confirm you want to take our studio membership and complete the sign up process.
Cancelation & Refund Policy
We require a 14 day notice from the start of your monthly start date to end your subscription. Email membership@throwandbuild.com to cancel your subscription.
No refunds available for memberships.
FAQ’S
How much pottery can I fire?
You can fire as much pottery as you can make with 75lbs of clay a month. If you do have 75lbs worth of pottery, it may take us a little longer to fire that amount, but will do our best to fire in a timely manner.
I am an experienced potter, but haven’t taken any classes or lessons from the studio. How can I join?
Yes, we will be happy to have you. Just fill out the form and apply for membership. We'll schedule a 30 min orientation at the studio, before you are allowed access to use the studio.
Can I bring my friends to open studio?
Yes, you can bring a friend to join you on open studio, up to 2 times a month, during our Public Hours on Saturday and Sundays from 10am-2pm. They are not allowed to use the pottery wheels.
Can I bring my child to the studio?
Yes, you can, they are welcomed to come to the studio. We'll give them some clay and they can play with clay with you on the hand building tables. They are not allowed to play on the pottery wheels.
Are there any limitations to the size I can make?
The only limitation is that it must fit in the kiln. It will take a longer to get your piece fired, so please be patient with us.
When do I have access to open studio?
Members has access to the studio during all open hours at the studio. Even when classes are in session. There are wheels dedicated to members only.
What cones do you fire to at the studio?
We fire bisque to cone 04 and glaze to cone 5 with a 20min cone 6 hold.
