Throwing Big

Throw bigger with more control and confidence.

$300
4 week group class

You will learn how to center and move larger amount of clay, build taller and wider pieces, correct uneven or off-center walls, and combine separately thrown sections into forms beyond what a single piece allows. It’s about coordinating your hands and body for the maximum outcome.

Throwing big isn’t just for bigger pots— it builds stronger fundamentals. Students consistently find that the control, pulling strength, and clay awareness they gain from this class improve everything they throw, big or small.

The first three weeks are devoted to throwing, experimenting, and refining your technique. At the end of week three, you’ll select up to three strongest pieces to fire. Then, after a one-week break, you’ll return for a final glaze session to complete your work.
